Family and Crossroads DTS

FOR FAMILIES, COUPLES AND SINGLES OVER 30

We believe that no one is meant to be on the sidelines of the Great Commission. God's love compels us to reach every nation and culture.

This Discipleship Training School is for families, couples and older singles who are seeking a fresh encounter with Jesus and want to take a step of faith to reach people with the gospel.

With practical training in evangelism and ministry during the lecture phase, you will then go to the nations and put into practice what you have learned.

In this hour the Kingdom of God is expanding in very special ways, and this is the time to rise up — to be equipped, refreshed, and sent out to the nations.

OUR DTS CULTURE

Freedom

When we encounter God, we encounter freedom. We want to find our freedom in Christ and be a community that multiplies freedom wherever we go.

Presence

We hear God's voice best when we rest in his Presence. We want to honor the Holy Spirit’s guidance in everything, whether it’s ministry or just every-day life.

   Joy

God is a joyful God and as we grow closer to Him, we also become more joyful. We experience that true Joy is greater than our circumstances and in Him we have access to an eternal source of Joy and hope.

FAQ:

Q: What will my kids do?

A: Depending on the age of the children, your kids will be in various programs during lecture phase. These are programs aimed at meeting your child where he/she is at. Children that are 2 years or older will either be in childcare or in Foundation School, which is essentially a DTS for children. The youngest children will be in class together with their parents and we have set up a room outside the classroom (with audio/video transfer from the classroom) where you can bring your child if special care is needed.

During outreach you will serve together as a family, and most of the ministry you will be doing will be structured in a way that the whole family serves together. This means that there is no school or special program for the kids during outreach, as the family spends most of the time together serving.

Q: What language will the program be in?

A: The program will be in English and we also encourage everyone to speak English as much as possible. Our base has students and staff from all parts of the world, and we find it welcoming that everyone can join conversations.

Q: Will my children learn to pray?

A: We have seen tremendous growth among the children that have been part of our previous DTS’.  Your children will encounter God, be motived to minster, pray for and serve others in a unique way both during foundation school/childcare and during outreach. Many kids feel that praying to God or praying for the sick is the most normal thing to do after a DTS. We have many testimonies of children that encounter God, worship passionately and that surrender their life to Jesus during the DTS.

Q: How long will the teaching be?

A: The lecture phase consists of 11 weeks of teaching, where each week we will have a special topic or focus. The teaching is normally from 9am until 12 (including snack breaks), but some days can vary

Q: How will the housing be?

A: You will live at the YWAM Grimerud base. We have accomodations that are meant for families.

Q: Why is the teaching 3 months?

A: We have experienced that during a 3-month lecture phase God gets the opportunity to move in our lives in a very special way. We want to activate our faith and renewed relationship with Jesus through our outreach, where we can put into practice what we learn during the lecture. This combination has shown itself to be very fruitful.

Q: Where will we go on outreach?

A: Most of our outreach teams are sent to other YWAM Locations, typically in countries that have a lower standard of living than Norway. We want our outreach locations to offer ministry opportunities that are well suited for families and adults. Typically, our outreach locations have been in Asia, Eastern Europe and Latin America, but there may be other opportunities as well. We only send teams to locations we know and where hosts are well prepared to welcome a group of families and adults.

Q: Who will be our teachers?

A: The teachers are leaders and speakers that are well known to the school leaders and the base in general. They carry a special authority, understanding and revelation related to the topic they speak on. All teaching will be in English, with no translation, but speakers will be both Norwegian, as well as coming from other countries.

Q: Are all meals provided?

A: Yes. At YWAM Grimerud you will be served 3 meals a day. Breakfast is served in the food hall every morning, while lunch is packed and is thus prepared during breakfast. At 5pm we serve dinner in the food hall. During weekends the times are a little different. We also serve some snacks during the breaks. If you want food or snacks outside of these mealtimes you will have to prepare that on your own. There are grocery stores a few minutes away (by car) YWAM Grimerud.
