An elective is an extra training opportunity during your DTS to focus on the things that interest you most and where you can use your skills/gifts/passions to serve God. This will be something you do in addition to the regular DTS schedule (class, work duties, worship, etc,). The elective will include a few extra hours each week of focused learning and practical application alongside an experienced staff in your chosen area of interest.

Our photography elective values the impact and influence we can have in reaching the next generation on social media. We want to see people who connect with this passion come to learn photography and how to use social media as a missionary.
Focus:
You will work closely in connection with our creative communications team on projects we will actually use. Our staff who will help train you in the basics of photography from shooting to editing. You will also get practical experience helping photograph events, portraits and daily life at here at Grimerud. You will have the opportunity to use what you have learned while on outreach.

Our worship elective is created to disciple and invest in future worship leaders and missionaries the value of hosting God’s presence. We desire to see people who are passionate about this sphere grow in these skills and giftings.
Focus:
Our worship elective will include a few hours each week that will give you extra time to devote to this area of growth and experience. During these hours you will work closely with one of our long-term worship staff. You may be assigned to help with one of our daily worship rhythms (morning prayer, staff fellowship meeting etc.) as well as events and monthly worship activities.

Our barista elective is about cultivating a value for hospitality and a really good coffee. We love to seeing our cafe ministry used as connection point with the local community. The home of this elective is in our cafe, The Bird and Baby, which is located in the heart of our main building.
