Elisabeth Håmsø (33) from Sandnes is a intersessory missionary. She is convinced that prayer is working.
"I work at the International House of Prayer (IHOP) in Kansas City, USA. Here we have 24 / 7 prayer and 24 / 7 working for justice" says Elisabeth.
Here, she works as a intercessory missionary.
We ask because we are convinced that prayer works. A missionary is one who is committed to seeing God's kingdom come and spread the gospel among the nations. A intersessory missionary is one who has intercession as their main job, and pray that the Gospel will be spread. To stand before God in prayer brings change across the globe. We strengthen the faithful hearts, brings power to mission work, and going deeper in our own relationship with Jesus.
She said she also works in a healing team and a prophetic team, and that she is involved with prayer down in the inner city of Kansas with a project called Hope City.
"To prophesy is about hearing God's voice for someone else, "she says about her work in the prophecy room.
She explains that this is first and foremost to be Jesus's friend.
"When we know him as a friend, we can hear what he says. We lift people up and gives them the courage to walk with Jesus." She talks about how exciting and what a privilege it is to know God's heart for people she does not know.
It's easy to be touched with how committed God is to each and every one of us and how involved he is in people's lives. Elisabeth says that she wants to work on the IHOP as long as God wants her there.
"Basically I have a heart to directly work with the poor and destitute, but the longer I am here, the more I see the necessity of having prayer focus, "says Elisabeth.
In the future she is thinking of working with women and girls who have been victims of human trafficking. And as a part of this, the house of prayer play an important role.
"But no matter what I do ministry-wise, my deepest desire is that I can love Jesus and people, "she said.
