mercy house

The Mercy House is a ministry that focuses on sharing God’s love and truth through serving and showing mercy to the community. We offer provision for the body, but most importantly, we offer our ears to listen, hearts to love and the truth that sets us free. The Mercy House is open for everyone, but our main focus is to reach out to refugees and Roma people.

The Mercy House is a Livets Senter Hamar ministry supported by YWAM Grimerud.

The house is situated in the center of Hamar and is open on some weekdays usually from 10.00 to 15.00.
Our dream is to be able to open the Mercy House every day, but we currently need more staff. We are looking for people that can commit to help us on a regular basis.

“FOR I WAS HUNGRY AND YOU GAVE ME SOMETHING TO EAT, I WAS THIRSTY AND YOU GAVE ME SOMETHING TO DRINK, I WAS A STRANGER AND YOU INVITED ME IN,I NEEDED CLOTHES AND YOU CLOTHED ME, I WAS SICK AND YOU LOOKED AFTER ME, I WAS IN PRISON AND YOU CAME TO VISIT ME.” MATTHEW 25:34-36

We are a group of people from a range of cultures and nationalities working together to serve the least of our city. We value community and help each other grow more and more to the likeness of Christ. The more diverse our team is, the more people we can reach and communicate with. So come and join us in being the hands and feet of Jesus in our community!

These are some of the things that you can do to help in the Mercy House:

  • Make or serve some coffee/tea
  • Make or serve some sandwiches
  • Help with sorting out clothes and setting them in display in our “boutique”
  • Help with cleaning
  • Smile to a refugee and listen to their story
  • Have a chat with someone and maybe share your own story
  • Share something from the Bible
  • Have a Bible study or a story telling moment
  • Come and sing or play a song that shares the truth of the Gospel
  • Teach a skill – knitting, drawing, playing an instrument, speaking English or Norwegian, etc.

If you can do one or more of these things on the list, you can be a part of our team!
